I don't know about you but I have such a great dad I want to give him something from my heart this year-- like fun and thoughtful Father's Day gift baskets he will love. When else do I get the chance to show him how much I appreciate him being there for me all throughout my life anytime I needed him - or didn't need him or so I thought. He's a special man and more than worthy to be celebrated.

At the risk of sounding manipulative (which I sometimes might be, for the right reasons of course), presents are great opportunities to make somebody do something they wouldn't normally try on their own. Especially if you are being especially sweet and thoughtful - recipients will at least attempt to like it when you're around. Present your dad with healthy gift baskets to veer him away from those greasy fries and burgers for a change. Fresh fruit baskets are delicious choices.

Alright, fresh fruit gift baskets might be a little too much for your dad - if tears show up; they should be tears of happiness not of annoyance. Still, all is not lost. Give him a healthy care basket with relatively healthy, tastier food. Pack a wicker basket with a loaf of whole wheat bread, some sausages, grapes and a bottle or two of beer. Take him out to a picnic lunch date and have a blast reminiscing about his old days, childhood memories and memorable milestones in your family's life.

What does your dad like doing in his spare time? Is it playing golf? A new set of clubs might be a little too expensive but it still shouldn't be too difficult to work around this particular hobby. Find yourself an attractive little tote and place golf things inside - don't stop with the golf printed t-shirt, the sillier the better. Have a caricature of him made swinging a club and have this made into a personalized wall clock. Or if that's not readily available, buy custom made little muffins and cookies that are made to look like golf balls.

Isn't it great that parents love us no matter what so our love for them is not measured by the amount of the gifts we give them right? It's no excuse not to give the best that we are currently able to give; but it does make DIY gift baskets extra special not just to them but to us as well.

How about putting together an album of his favorite songs from all the bands and singers he loves? The same applies to his movie fetish if he has one. A DVD collection would make a great present for him. If all else fails, make him laugh with a bouquet of corndogs or a framed picture of your mom's face when he wore that loud golf shirt while walking beside her.

Today we give special attention to the hero that needs no special mention, at least for him -our dad. He always provided and cared for us beyond what was expected of him; it's your chance to show your appreciation with beautiful Father's Day gift baskets that express your love.
