Marathons have an incredible history. They are named after a person who ran from a town sharing the same name to Athens to deliver news of victory but died on arrival. Today, many people run the distance of 26.2 miles in commemoration either for charity or to challenge oneself. Marathon races apparel is important as it provides comfort and fit.

People are always to dress appropriately for a particular event. Each event has its own mode of dressing. The same case applies to running. Wearing the right apparel for long races can be particularly rewarding because it prevents injuries and helps the athlete keep in shape. Offline and online shops offer appropriate marathon wear.

A proper pair of running shoes should be your biggest investment as a runner. A good pair of shoes makes running a lot easier than badly constructed shoes. Hence, go for something that fits into your frame. Additionally, never buy today and wear tomorrow. Wear them for training a few months before to test the comfort and fit before your big day.

The next item is proper running clothing. This is where it gets tricky because there is a variety of designs, fabrics, and styles to choose from. In addition, you must consider the type of weather you will be running in. When running, the body heats up plus there will be more heat as a result of the large groups of people participating.

What to wear is largely determined by the weather. A hotter weather requires something light like a running vest and shorts. This allows more air circulation. Also, they can be of various lengths depending on what you are comfortable with. Whatever you decide to wear, make sure it fits well and is actually comfortable. If not sure, it is best to train in it.

If you want something cooler when the weather is hotter, try shorts with inbuilt briefs. Whatever your choice of wear is, remember comfort and fit are your goals. Cooler weather demands long-sleeves and a bit of layering. Layering is important to add an extra bit of protection against the cold but also quick removal when you feel hotter. For instance, instead of wearing one thick layer of clothing, wear two thin ones.

What about hats? They are acceptable but wearing them should match the weather. A heavy hat is necessary when cold to keep the heat from escaping. In hotter weather, you do not want more heat accumulating and therefore, wear a light hat. You may also try on gloves when it is windy. Scarves around the neck may also be worn when cold.

Comfort and fitting are the most important items when it comes to running long distances. It is of critical importance that you test drive everything you intend to wear during the race. Wearing beforehand and training in them helps you identify any potential issues so that you can resolve them before the big day. Shoes are particularly tricky because some bring out their discomfort only after hours of wearing them. Lastly, take plenty of water and be ready for the big day.
