During a survey conducted by consumer reports in the recent past, Yamaha motorcycle was found leading. The dealer described the brand as the most reliable. The magazine received 11000 responses from the motorcycle riders. Their view of the bikes and their experience included 12000 bikes newly purchased from 2008 to 2014. How Yamaha rose to the top on the Motorsports Dealer Riverside County list.

How Yamaha Stacks Up on Reliability.Motorcycles manufactured in Japan have been ranked among the top. Yamaha was the first then Suzuki, Honda, and Kawasaki follow in that order. Brands such as Ducati, Triumph, and BMW were reported to be more prone to repair.

Harley-Davidson owners reported that their bikes were twice as likely, 26 percent, to experience major issues in the first four years. Triumph owners fared a bit worse on reliability than Harley. Ducati and BMW owners reported low reliability, and the study shows that 33 percent of new Ducatis and 40 percent new BMWs require major repairs early in life. Can-Am trikes did the worst at 42 percent.

BMW and Ducati were found to be the least reliable. The study also revealed that 40 percent of BMWs and 33 percent of Ducatis needed repairs in their early years after purchase. On the other hand, Triumph and Harley-Davidson bikes were found to be in need of major repairs in their four years of purchase.

Motorcycle riders, like car enthusiasts, are known for brand loyalty. So, that could be part of the explanation. This is one product where brand image takes precedence over more practical categories like comfort and reliability.

That does not mean that Yamaha is not in love with their bikes. They get more value for their money.You need to discard the idea of getting cheap products to save money.
