Riding motorcycles is fun and exciting. More and more bikes are coming with the larger fat tires as part of the stock setup. However, those that have older bikes or ones that they might want to modify with the fat tires on the back can easily customize them by getting a 300 wide tire kit. This allows you to save the cost of buying a new bike, but still have better stability and great look.

There are several components included. It will contain a wider swing arm and larger fender to be able to accommodate the bigger wheel. Offset gears and other components are usually included as well. The tires and wheels usually aren't, though some providers may allow a tire selection with the order. The fenders are usually stainless steel so they are ready for paint to match the rest of the paint job on the bike.

Building your own kit has advantages and disadvantages. If you're willing to spend a lot of money, you can definitely build your own. Each part will need to be ordered and you'll have to make sure they all go together. This allows you to get a total custom looking sets. The best idea for most is to get the kit that is the size you want. All the main pieces are included and ready for custom paint jobs to match the bike. The fender is usually stainless steel and ready to be painted.

The two most popular sizes are the 300 and 240. The 240 is the oldest size for a fat back. This was the first size put when someone had the idea of using a bigger tire on the back. The 300 is the most popular size today. Both will do, you just need to be sure you get the right wheel for the one you order.

The wheel has to be ordered separately. Custom back wheels are very common and popular. Even if you get a stock wheel, you're going to want it to match the front. Including them with the pack would be difficult because every bike is so different. The tires are often not included because it is also a very visible piece and many riders want to have their own style.

You can install them yourself. If you have mechanical skills and are used to working on your bike, you can pull off the old set and install the new one, following the instructions. You'll need to have the right tools for the job. If you're not comfortable doing it, most bike mechanics or bike shops can order them and install them for you. It is vitally important that they are put on correctly for safety issues.

Test riding is a must. For safety's sake, you must do a test ride. If you've installed it yourself ride it around your own driveway or lot for a bit and make sure the brakes are on right and the wheel has no wobble. Have someone watch while you ride to be sure. Once you're good, feel free to take it out for a little bit longer ride before you hit the open road.

Thinner wheels on bikes were all the rage for many years. Now, the fat tires are the way to go. They add stability and really look cool when you're riding. The most popular and custom made bikes are going with the fat back wheels.
