Having something to decorate the home at different times of the year, particularly during religious occasions, is always nice. Not only is it a great way to celebrate said occasion, it is also fun to change the way the home is decorated with something new. Because most decor may only be seasonal, it isn't necessary to spend a great deal of money on expensive items when it's just as easy to do it yourself. Homemade Easter wreaths, for example, can be a lovely addition to spruce up the home in anticipation of spring without breaking the bank.

Making a wreath is easy enough once all the materials are available. To begin with, it is easy to make a base for the decorations out of wire twisted into the desired size of circle. Alternatively, basic wreath forms out of styrofoam or other materials are easily available at most craft stores.

In order to properly attach your decorations to the wreath base, you can use a glue gun. This is the easiest way to do it. However, you can also use a paintbrush to apply a liquid glue like PVA. Once you have a glue that dries clear, you'll be able to mask any spills or mistakes you make during the process.

Another way to attach decorations or flowers or greenery to a wreath base is using thin wire. This is better for more sophisticated projects and also perhaps for more seasoned home crafters. However, since a DIY project like this is so much fun to do with kids, it may be a better option to stick to glue for attaching.

As the theme is Easter, there are a number of different objects that can be used to make a fun and colorful wreath to suit the occasion. Of course, rabbits, baby chicks and eggs are all things most commonly associated with this time of year. Plastic eggs can easily be found at any craft store in a variety of colors and sizes, and they can also be painted with patterns as necessary.

Use the eggs to completely cover the wreath base by layering them on top of one another using glue. A good idea is to start with some larger eggs underneath and build up with smaller ones for each additional layer. This will add a nice overall effect and allow for various other decorations to be placed in any empty spaces.

Use paper cutouts of rabbits or baby chicks to decorate the wreath. They can be silhouettes or details can be drawn or painted in. Other good decorations to use would be flowers associated with spring, such as daffodils, which add a good pop of color.

Another way to decorate a wreath base without using too much glue is to cut strips of tulle in different pastel colors and tie them around the wreath base. Tie each new strip close to the last and continue until the entire thing is covered. Fluff the ends of tulle to add volume. Glue a statement decoration to the bottom of the wreath, like a 3D rabbit or baby chick with a few eggs. Tie a ribbon at the top and hang.
