Today, technological advancements and inventions are turning what seemed to be dreams a few years ago into reality. One invention that proves this point is the two wheel scooter, which also goes by the name self-balancing two-wheeled scooter or boards. This device is a kind of portable vehicles capable of being powered by rechargeable batteries. It is usually small in size and can only accommodate a single passenger at a time. More recent models allow for powering using electricity and other mechanisms.

The two wheels the vehicle has are arranged side-by-side and not in linear. The rider stands on a platform that links and holds the wheels together. A balancing effect comes from internally located balancing mechanisms. Models vary in how accurately and fast the controls are. Expensive models are usually more effective and have sharper controls as compared to low-cost models.

The standing platform protects and covers the controls, which are internally located too. The rider controls the device by their feet on built-in hygroscopic, sensored platform. The origin of the vehicle is China, but the adoption by several American celebrities made it popular. The public followed the suit of the celebrities. There is no universal name for the vehicle. Names are given depending on the distributor and not the Chinese company that manufactured it.

The inventor and first manufacturer of the product is hard to pinpoint because of fast growth and expansion in Chinese industries. However, Chic Robotics and Shane Chen have laid forth claims of being the original inventors. Chen in particular has claimed that the idea was stolen from him by manufacturing companies. Patent-related battles and claims have since ensued with little fruition.

American celebrities such as Chris Brown, Jamie Foxx, Kendall Jenner, Soulja Boy, and Wiz Khalifa are usually credited with making the gadget popular worldwide. There are videos on the internet of American celebrities riding on the devices or falling off them. Many brands of the gadget exist today and they differ in many ways. Some of the brands that are most popular today include Cyboard, Monoboard, Monorover, Esway, Airboard, Swagway, and Roadrunner.

Among the most variable aspects of various models of the vehicle are speed, weight, and range. The fastest model can travel at a speed slightly above 20 km/h, while the slowest can travel at lower than 10 km/h. Speed is an internal factor and depends on the engineering specifications of the manufacturer.

Speed is never reliant on weight, which is another very variable factor among various models. Currently, the weight range of most popular models lies between 100-150 kilograms. Because of the popularity of this vehicles, a lot of research is in progress and soon lighter, faster brands will be developed. The distance range that can be travelled lies within 10-25 kilometers.

There are several sources to buy the gadget from including online and local stores. Among the major online stores where one can make a purchase from include eBay, Alibaba, and Amazon. Online stores quote prices inclusive of shipping costs are. A single store usually stocks models from different manufacturers and distributors.
