The government yards are also used in keeping the vehicles which have been taken from various crime scenes.

The damaged vehicles can be stored in different yards. There are those wreck yards which usually store a certain types of automobiles. There are those which are known in housing boats and others are known in housing other types of vehicles. Motorbikes also have their own yards in which they are kept. The decision on which area a yard should be dealing with is mainly determined by availability of such machines around.

In most cases these yards are known to operate within specific geographical areas. This is mainly due to the cost of transportation that may be incurred when it comes to operating in a large area. Going for goods which are a bit far from the yard might be costly as well as time consuming. This place is mainly used in storing vehicles which are damaged in such a way that they cannot operate again.

There are various places from which the yard operators can get the damaged vehicles from. Crash sites are the major sources of these vehicles. Garages form the other source. The price at which the vehicles are sold varies widely. The variance is mainly due to the extent of damaged.

A company which owns a garage of this kind can transport the damaged vehicle in tow main ways. The first way is that of towing the wreckage using their machines. The other option is that of outsourcing these services to a towing company.

There is wide range information taken about the damaged vehicle whenever it is taken to a yard. This information can vary from the year of manufacture to the actual manufacturer. Something else that is recorded is the model of that car.

Once the detailed information of the wrecked vehicle is considered, the operators begin to work on them. The goods parts which are not damaged are normally removed carefully. These parts are usually sold to companies as well as to individuals as spare parts.

There are some parts which are removed first. The most important parts such as the engine are also removed. They can then be used on other vehicle of the same make as spare parts.
