When faced with a situation where the car insurance that you are applying for would be rejected, you then need to find another private company who would accept. But if this keeps going on and on, it would end up really frustrating and hopeless. But there are actually government recognized companies that would support these failed applications.

In the State of Maryland, a company there may provide you with insurance even though other companies were not able to accept it, they would also give you this even when you have not had it before the liability came up. MAIF insurance agent, or the Maryland Automobile Insurance Fund. This is relatively under the Uninsured Division where this division takes care of these liabilities.

This can be taken advantage by any Maryland resident. In situations where they do not have a car or their relative does not have an insurance, can still be covered by the liabilities. This is also in the case for both of the car owners not having any insurance. This can be investigated further if the other party is negligent free and would then be viable for this.

The source for the funding of this division comes from the penalty fines that came from motorists who violated rules. Then this means that no other company is giving out the funds and no other types of individuals as well aside from this. So the collection is solely based on the fined motorists.

There is an imposed legal minimum requirement for this. While the penalties are for the loss of plate, and then fines for uninsured motorists of a hundred fifty for the first month and then seven dollars per day after that. Twenty five dollars is the cost also for restoration in cases of violations, and then some others as well.

This was duly created by the Maryland State Legislature during 1972 for that purpose. This is an independent agency and they report directly towards the Governor and they are responsible to the legislature. Generally, the funds for them to operate are from premiums and they do not receive any funds from the State, neither for obligations and debts in regards to the State of Maryland.

The Board of Trustees are the ones advising and running this company and this comprises of appointed people by the Government and from the industry, ten and seven people respectively. Also, the Executive Director is a member of the Board of Trustees and is the one running the operations everyday. The units for operation is the Underwriting Department, and then the Human Resources Department, the Claims Department, the Fiscal Department, the Administration Department, and the Information Systems Department.

Of course, there are simple ways that the costs could be lowered or prevent it from raising higher. You should be able to maintain a good record for driving. Avoid penalties and other traffic violations since this may raise the premium you have and would make it cost more.

Also, check the deductibles that you are able to afford. Get rid off anything that you do not need and for those small losses. Getting a higher deductible would lower the premium for physical damages that may occur. Another thing is to look at the condition of your vehicle in terms of its age and is it still running fine.
