Located about twenty-five km west of the Red Deer city, Sylvan Lake is a peaceful and beautiful Central Alberta town. Sylvan Lake is actually a 15 km long freshwater lake located in Red Deer County. The lake is a popular tourist attraction which sees millions of tourists from all around Alberta each year.

What Tourists Can Do In Sylvan Lake

Sylvan Lake offers various fun activities at any time of the year. In summer there are endless water sports to enjoy. In winter you can do ice fishing, cross-country skiing, snow-shoeing and many more! If you're a golf lover, make sure to play a few rounds of golf. Sylvan Lake has some very gorgeous golf courses such as the Meadowlands Golf Club, Top O' the Hill Golf Course.

It is said that the weather in Sylvan Lake is quite temperate. It is a little bit cold in winter, cool in spring and comparatively comfortable in summer. Its annual rainfall is 398.3 millimetres or 15.68 inches at average. Its total snowfall quantity is 158.2 centimetres yearly. The average winter temperature is approximately 14.6 degrees. The average summer temperature is 15.7 degrees.

It is one of the largest towns in the province with a 2013 population measurement of 13,327 people and is now eligible for city status in the province of Alberta. The town's population is relatively young, with 33.2% of the population 19 years of age or under; while the retirement population sits at 6.7%.

Having no broadcast television stations by itself but it get broadcast news from Edmonton at all three of the big channels. Although it doesn't have any radio stations but it gets signals from Red Deer, which pleases listeners.
