Limousine, usually shortened to limo refers to a luxury saloon or sedan car that is generally driven by a chauffeur. Most of them feature a partition between the driver compartment and the compartment where the passenger sits. These cars often have a wheelbase that is lengthened. Initial limousines were enclosed with only the partition of the driver open at the top. Limo service in Jersey City is very efficient and affordable for most people.

Limousine is the costliest kind of ground transportation in existence today. That is why it is reserved for special occasions and for the wealthy only. Ordinary people rent limos when attending special occasions like weddings and proms. However, for the wealthy, it is an ordinary means of transport. Some even own their own fleets.

Modern limousines always have two partitions, one for the driver and the other one for passengers. The passenger communicates to the driver through an intercom system installed in both compartments. Some models lack an intercom system, but instead have a soundproof glass on the partition. When the passenger needs to communicate to the driver, they simply open the window. The window is made soundproof to promote privacy of the passenger.

Limousines are designed to carry different number of passengers. The number of passengers in most models ranges from three to sixteen. The seats are arranged in different designs with the jump seat always facing forward. Seats are covered with leather material and can be of any color, but most of them are often black, white, or brown in color. Seats are soft and smooth to promote comfort.

Limos cannot be driven by anybody. The only individuals permitted to drive them are qualified chauffeurs. Limos fall under different categories. That implies that each category requires a different driving license to be able to drive it. Suitability of a driving license depends on capacity and weight of the vehicle. C1 Large Good Vehicle, D1 and B are some of the driving license classes allowed.

A few factors need to be considered when renting limo services. Certification is among the first factors one should consider. The company one chooses must be authorized to operate in the jurisdiction it operates in. It must be operating under a valid liability insurance policy. This is for the protection of clients against any unforeseeable incidents.

Another factor to check for is the level of training of the chauffeurs. The chauffeurs must be professionally trained and have diverse experience in the field. All the vehicles must also be DPU approved and DOT inspected. Bigger companies have a wide range of fleets for clients to choose from. Some among the common vehicle types are stretch limos, party buses, Mercedes sprinters, shuttle buses, custom-built trolley, and stretch SUVs among others.

One of the most important sources of information is company websites. Information on cost and the kind of services a company renders can be found on those websites. Some websites allow clients to post comments and reviews. If that is the case, one should read the reviews to know what former clients have to say about the company before hiring a limo.
