If you have an old junk car that is no longer running, or if you have an old car that runs but needs major repairs, there are options available to you to get rid of it and reap some of your investment. Most states have laws regarding old vehicles that are sitting idle on your property and will enforce the law when it comes to getting rid of it. You may be able to sell that junk car to someone who buys junk cars for cash.

Junk yards are huge buyers of non operational or just old junk cars. They will give you a fair price for it if you deal with someone who is reputable and has been in business for a long time. You get cash out of the deal and they get something they can use for spare parts or use the metal contained in it to re-purpose it. Either way it is a win-win situation.

You get rid of your unwanted vehicle and the junkyard gets something they can use for the spare parts to sell to their customers. You must be careful however in choosing how you dispose of the vehicle and to whom. Make sure they are reputable dealers and will give you the fair market value for your old junk vehicle.

Always check the Kelly Blue Book for the value of the car to know what it is worth up front. Also be sure to use a reputable dealer. You can check with your local or state agencies to see if their business has any complaints against it or to see what others say in reviews about them that have done business with them in the past.

Make sure that you make arrangements to take it into them by either driving it if it is running or having it towed to the place of business. Some dealers charge a large fee for towing or do not pay you what it is worth if they have to come and pick it up.

When you find someone to work with, make sure that you have done your research regarding the vehicle you are looking to sell by knowing the Kelly Blue Book price of your year, make and model as well as the condition of the vehicle. This will give you the fair market value of the vehicle so you know just about how much it is worth to the dealer and you can better negotiate a reasonable price for it.

The laws are there to protect the buyer from getting something that is not worth the money they spent. Usually if the car is priced under $700 this will protect you and they buyer because the buyer will most likely use it for restoration or for parts. Let them know everything that is wrong with the car up front in order to protect yourself and put the transaction in writing.

You may have to look at the surrounding areas of your city if there are none in the immediate area. Just know that these types of businesses are plentiful. Before you choose one to work with do your homework and know what you will be getting in return.
