Washing and drying are considered to be the foundation of any detailing done in a car. That is the simple most yet most overlooked part of car detailing Lexington KY. The reason for this is that most of the imperfections in a cars body are added during the washing and drying phase. That is when the vehicle gets the most scratches swirls and ugly water spots. Experts recommend washing it twice a week.

First, a prewash is done. It essentially prevents the addition of waterspouts on the surface. The water minerals have to be removed at this stage. The shampoo is then applied to the car for degreasing and light scrubbing is done. Water is then used to rinse. The vehicle is then air dried before wiping with a towel to prevent the paint wash.

Some of these imperfections that remain after the washing are removed using the clay bar. Application of the clay bar leaves the surface very smooth and glassy. It is worth noting, some of these imperfections removed are invisible to the bare eye. This process must be repeated either once or twice a year.

There are two variations in which the clay comes. It can either be a quick detailer or as a clay lubricant. First, the clay lubricant is used to make the cover with an even texture. It functions to prevent the fall off of the clay bar when it is being applied. A liquid called the optimum rinse off is used at the final stage in this process.

Once the clay surface treatment is done, it is then polished. It is argued that this step has the greatest impact on this vehicle. Essentially it is used to remove the dull spots on the face of this car due to weathering action and industrial fallout. It can be done twice or thrice in a year to keep it in a perfect state throughout the year.

While the hand can be used for polishing, a quality buffer is recommended. The advantage of using the buffer is that the surfaces are evenly polished. Using the hand also requires pressure application which can be very tiring activity. Keeping the paint in good condition ensures it requires less frequent polishing.

Glazing is an optical step in the detailing process. It often adds a layer of gloss when done correctly. The depth of the paint also significantly increases. Glazing is done to fill the minor imperfections. However, when overdone, it may reduce the sealants and the waxes. The glaze can be applied as much or as little as the owner desires.

Before anything, the car should be washed clean, dried and polished before using the glaze. A black finishing pad is recommended to be used. It is important to note that the glaze only fills the imperfections temporarily. It cannot also be layered, so a single layer is sufficient for optimal results.

Those are the key steps in detailing. There are other procedures done such as coating, layering, waxing, microfiber care, wheel and tire care and the glass care.
