I finally decided to sign up for my first marathon in the coming January. And I do constantly think of my protection whenever I run.

Not only is my latest jogging course poorly lit, I likewise don't exercise with a jogging partner every day. My trainer encouraged I find a means of defense spray protection for my needs quickly.

He revealed that pepper sprays are non deadly weapons for personal protection. They consist of hot pepper which causes tearing as well as irritation whenever sprayed into the eyes or onto the skin.

Since pepper sprays are created to generate great amounts of discomfort whenever inhaled through the mouth or nose, they give off a burning effect that lasts for around 30 to 45 minutes. This buys users enough time to flee from danger.

My instructor favors pepper gels, which he claims are the latest in pepper spray technology. As it is suspended in gel instead of liquid stream, gel pepper spray could get to longer distances as well as cling to the skin like adhesive. He bought a 9 oz. pepper gel with pistol grip not too long ago that could spray approximately 38 one-second bursts within a range of twenty feet.

For my use, he advised I get a disguised defense spray since this type would provide the element of surprise towards any assailant. He encouraged I purchase a pepper pen since it appeared exactly like a common pen, so that attackers would not know it contained pepper spray.

I decided to acquire a key chain pepper spray because of its convenient size. This type is easy to not only carry around but also conceal in the hand to be able to deliver a surprise attack. I purchased one having a Quick Key Release key chain. This is 1/2 oz. in size and has about 10 one-second bursts which cover a range of six to eight feet.

At the end of the day, I could not jeopardize my personal safety. I understand that discovering the best source of pepper spray protection is the greatest decision I could ever make in training.
