Cooper Tires is part of a globally recognized family of companies dedicated toward producing quality products as their story describes how they have developed, grown, expanded and succeeded. In 1914 two brothers-in-law by the names of Charles E. Hart and John F. Schaefer purchased the M and M Manufacturing Company in Akron Ohio, which is where the story begins. That company produced tire patches, tire cement and tire repair kits that led them into the giant production of tires that grew and expanded its products as well as the marketplace, manufacturing plants and distribution system.

In 1915 the brothers-in-law acquired The Giant Tire And Rubber Company of Akron that was a tire rebuilding business, which was one of the numerous acquisitions that helped the company grow and expand. The company demonstrated their flexibility during World War II when many businesses and people were focused on patriotism they did their part to help by converting their hard goods department to wartime production as the contribution to fulfill their part.

Cooper Tires became a publicly held corporation and was listed on the New York Stock Exchange in 1960 and revised its name to Cooper Tire And Rubber Company. They became one of the largest industrial companies in the United States among the ranks of Fortune 500 companies as they expanded their products and manufacturing plants over several years. Using acquisitions they continued to evolve giving those fifty manufacturing facilities in nine countries including the Standard Products Company that increased by 10,000 their number of employees.

As part of its decision to eventually return the company to its core business of tire manufacturing and provide new opportunities for growth they sold off the automotive business. All around the world this company is considered a top brand for tire production as it capitalizes on superior customer service and their North American dealer relationships. This business focuses on the special design and production of quality tires for a wide range of vehicles and a variety of driving situations. They are acknowledged all around the world for producing superior tires with a long-wearing tread that provide a smooth ride and excellent control.

This business is very well positioned as a pre-eminent producer of high-performance and ultra high performance tires worldwide. Among their lines of passenger tires they design and manufacture for cars, minivans and sport utility vehicles are high-performance and maximum performance tires, touring tires, winter tires and even perfect tires for all terrain vehicles. They supply a large variety of tires that can be used for vehicles that are just about any type. This possibly justifies their growth and popularity.
