Smog is becoming a big problem in most cities in the world. There are several disadvantages associated with this state with the most common being poor visibility on our roads causing accidents and development of health problems. It is therefore very necessary by the legislation to take into account the level of harmful substance release in to the air leading to formulation of smog check Murrieta laws.

It has been made compulsory that all automobiles in the city of Murrieta, CA should be registered under this new law of ensuring environmental safety and cleanliness. All motor vehicles which were built from 1974 to 2002 are subject to these new regulations.Under this policy it is a requirement that all motor vehicles are taken to the checks after every two years of service to inspect the state of the engine and the exhaust systems.

The renewal of this regulatory programs takes place on annual basis where by the owners visit the service stations where the checking is done and payment of the inspection fee of about 300 US$ is also done. The driver is then given a certificate to show that he has met the law and a sticker is put on the car. This is constantly used by the officials on their duty to check for those who have not complied.

Many inspection stations have been set up in this town to ensure proper service delivery. There are well developed systems in these stations and learned workers have been employed to work here. The vehicles brought in for tests are put through a process of constant measure and analysis of the fumes being emitted from the engine when the vehicle is on the roads.

Tough measures and actions are taken to those who fail to meet the required condition as per the law thus ensuring that law is more effective. Fines are charged to those operating vehicles that do not meet the required standards considered environmental friendly. Those found to be in bad state should be taken for repairs and maintenance before they are put back on the roads. The levies charged vary depending on the extent of pollution caused by the vehicles emissions.

Though the law requires all motor vehicles to be subject to these laws there are some exemptions. State owned vehicles and military vehicles have a short span of two years of operations thus they are assumed to be in good conditions thus within this period they do not have to be registered.

Advancements in state of technology have seen the designing of catalytic combustion in motor vehicles. This has helped to increase fuel combustion which has seen a decrease in the amount of fumes released. This has gradually helped reduce pollution.

This measure has been very effective since it started being implemented. Reports from the recent analysis have shown a decline in the volumes of toxic substances being released into the air. This has also led to fall in the number or road carnage. It has been recommended that other affected cities should adapt similar laws.
