An easy and low cost way to customize your vehicle is to fit some aftermarket rims. Most cars are made and fitted with alloy or steel rims as standard and there are many suppliers who can offer an upgrade which will improve the looks of a car. If you are searching for and buying wire wheels for cars there are a lot of suppliers and some care is needed before you place an order.

You can locate and buy set of wire rims that will be suitable for most modern day vehicles. Many options are available and you will have to choose the size, color, finish and number of spokes carefully. They can be purchased off the shelf from a car parts retailer in your neighborhood or from an internet supplier.

A cheaper option for those on a limited budget is to purchase four used rims to fit to the vehicle. This can be a cost effective way of modifying your car and you can find sets from as little as two hundred dollars. Some second hand wheels may need refurbishing and there are specialist companies that provide these services.

If you want something extra special the bespoke wheels can also be ordered and purchased for your vehicle. These handmade custom rims will start from around 2000 bucks for four and they will increase in price according to style, finish and the number of spokes. The fixings can also be custom made and decorated with a name, picture or logo that you have selected.

When you are buying new rims it is very important to check a couple of things on the vehicle. If the aftermarket wheels are bigger than the ones that are fitted to your car you will need to ensure there is enough clearance to enable the new ones to turn. Some vehicles may also need brakes and suspension upgrades which can be costly.

Another thing to consider is that you are going to need different tools in case you need to remove a wheel at the roadside. Wire rims are usually secured with a single spinner nut and the standard lever supplied with your car originally will not do the job. Most suppliers will be able to offer you these tools or you can buy them from an auto store or tool shop.

You will need to look after your new rims in the correct way and good cleaning and maintenance is important. Washing and polishing can be laborious and will take longer than cleaning a steel or alloy wheel. Old toothbrushes and shoelaces are useful for cleaning inaccessible areas where a pressure washer does not reach. You should also remove each wheel at some point to clean behind and inspect for damage.

Before fitting new rims it is advisable to speak to a qualified technician and get them to do the work. You should also be aware that buying from a web based supplier may be cheaper but you may get better after sales care from a local auto store. You should keep the original steel or alloy rims that were on your car and refit them if you sell it.
