Looking for a new car in Detroit, MI, takes a lot of work. Naturally, you will first have to think about how much you would be willing to spend. Once you know how much you can spend, you need to think about the type of car you like and even the make and model. Finally, you need to decide where you will go to buy this car. You have three main options available when looking for Detroit used cars.

The first is the private seller, the second the auction and the final the dealer. Which one should you choose? People tend to choose private sellers because they think this is the cheapest option. In reality, however, this isn't often the case. Also, you need to be aware of the many risks you are exposing yourself to. The car could be stolen, a Lemon or still under finance. Although you could decide to run a VIN check or a vehicle history check, this isn't foolproof and it can cost both time and money. Plus, your car will not be under any kind of warranty.

So should you go to auction instead? It is quite exciting to go to an auction, and it is possible to get a real bargain if you're lucky. On the other hand, it's possible to get caught up in the excitement and end up paying more than you had planned on.

Additionally, you won't really have any time to properly check a car out before deciding to bid on it, and you and many others may just see this as a problem. The auction house should inform you of its history and any problems, but you will simply have to take their word for it. The last issue is that it is rare for a really good car to be put up for auction.

This means the dealer option is all that's left. It is not uncommon for people to see this as a really expensive option. However, if you find a good dealer, then this isn't really the case. For instance, you can find a site where all vehicles are priced on or below the recommendation of the Kelley Blue Book, which you can immediately check through their website as well.

Furthermore, buying through a dealer means you buy a car that has been checked from top to bottom and is under warranty. Additionally, dealers have link to finance providers, so they can help you with that too. When reviewing all of these details, it is easy to understand why going to a dealer is by far the better idea, and why it is the recommended option by experts.
