When troubleshooting a car for problems, you can put into account its computer or ECU as a cause of the problem. If not, at least some of the car's parts that it works with can be found at fault. Control of fuel, air flow into the engine as well as automatic transmissions; the functioning and even operation of a PT Cruiser ECM or it's computer, also known as the brain of the car.

Suspecting your car's computer to be the major problem could just prove to be a fact. Despite this fact, there exist so many factors that make your Caravan to stop working properly. Just like systems, there are certain components or parts of a car that cannot function on their own but depend on the results of a smaller sub-system in order for it to carry out its purpose.

You will not be wrong thinking that the ECU is actually being the root cause of the problem. Although, this does not mean that the ECU or ECM are the only ones that can cause a car to stop working well as there are several factors that could lead to the same.

Some of the many components of a car work hand in hand to ensure that it operates properly. A good example of this kind of component is the car's computer that depends on the information sent by the air flow sensor which it then uses to determine the right amount of fuel to be sent to the engine. Since the computer uses the information it receives after interpretation, failure of such a component will also affect its performance.

This is due to the fact that when the air flow sensor does not perform well, it will perform wrong calculations of the amount of air entering the engine. The computer will use the wrong information it receives to determine the amount of fuel to be transmitted into the engine. This will also negatively affect the mileage of the Dodge PT Cruiser.

When the PCM does not perform, fuel is not utilized optimally and this eventually leads to waste of money. A an example, if the air flow sensor is not performing, the amount of air determined to be in the engine will not be right and thus the amount of fuel released into the engine which will make the car work poorly.

In addition to all the problems mentioned, it also affects the car's fuel mileage negatively and cause damage to both internal and external parts of the car. The internal part that can be damaged is the engine whereas the external part is the piston as well as it rings.

Though overlooked by many, fuses can also cause faults especially when they blow. Just like in homes, electronic devices and appliances found in cars are safeguarded from power surges by making use of fuses. Though, nowadays most homes have adopted the use of circuit breakers.

To locate the fuse, you can use the car operator manual though they can be found either in the fuse box or even under the dash or hood. All in all, just ensure that all the components of a car's computer are inspected before you purchase it whether it is online or in a physical shop.
