Do you travel a lot? Have you just come home from a month-long backpacking trip across mainland Asia, biking along the temples of Angkor, traversing the rivers of Laos, scuba diving in Malaysia, and feasting on freshly caught seafood in Vietnam while crossing borders via train or overnight bus? Yes, your life is the envy of most people, because indeed, nothing beats the joy of waking up to a brand-new day in a new place.

But then you go home and you realise that you have taken with you far more than you have bargained for. Besides the memories and countless photos, you might have taken home bed bugs for souvenirs too. And this is true for individuals who are always on the road. Sleeping in hostels, inns, dormitories, sleeper buses, and trains poses travellers to bed bugs as well as other pests that tend to stick to clothing and backpacks, transported around until homestretch.

Bed bugs, like all other pests, are a nuisance to daily life, causing itch and irritation to the skin. Thankfully though, the problem on bed bugs is easily solved with effective pest control. Pest management professionals can ably eradicate bed bugs and prevent them from breeding by looking at infected spots of your home and surrounding areas and disinfecting their breeding grounds. Pest Control In Singapore entails a highly technical process, not the least since it involves chemicals not anyone could administer. This means that as soon as you discover an infestation, do not take it upon yourself to eradicate them, spraying random chemicals that are not made for bed bug eradication in the first place.

Once eliminated, you also have to ensure you do not put in another batch from your upcoming travels. To minimise the infestation of bed bugs, take a little more caution with your belongings when travelling. Because bed bugs cling to cloth, do not place your backpacks and clothes on just about any surface. It is always better to keep your clothes in your backpack or else hang them instead of leaving them lying around.

Right after you get home, avoid stowing your backpack and its contents on your couches, carpets, and bed; place it on the laundry for washing. Separately wash all your soiled clothes from your trip (do not mix them with your other laundry). Wash everything else you brought with you on the road, including those you ended up not using anyway. Other cloth materials in your backpack, like pouches, also need washing because they are as vulnerable as any clothing article you have brought with you.
